Where do I even begin?.. So this area has kinda been "dead" for quite some time. Everyone just told me it's normal so you just have to deal with it and enjoy it. Ummm noooo m'aammm! So these last couple weeks we have seriously been working so hard! Trying less actives, part members, former investigators, referrals, tracting, you name it we probably did it. I never knew working so hard could be so fun. When you have more lessons in one week then you do in the whole month you know its been a good week.
But this week we definitely saw the fruits of our labors and I cannot even tell you how amazing it was. First tender mercy from the Lord... We went and contacted a couple referrals we received and the first house the lady wasn't home but her husband and kids were and he was super open and was willing to talk with us. He is from Africa (can't remember where) and had just moved here a couple years ago and said Christianity here is so much more different then back home and it really confused him. He had a really strong accent and I asked him if he spoke another language randomly since I have the attention span of a squirrel. He started speaking French and Sister Putoa about just about fell over dead from excitement. It definitely is not a coincidence that he was put in our path at this time.
Second Tender Mercy from the Lord... We went and contacted another referral that was never conacted and the moment Miss Amelia opened the door she was sooo happy to see us. Her uncle is a member and has shared with her all the pamplets and the Book of Mormon and she wanted to learn more from the missionaries. Saaaayyyy Whaaaaattt?? Yes we will most definitely teach you!
Third tender mercy from the Lord... We went and tried a less active and when we pulled up a guy was sitting in his jeep and he told us that his sister now travels all over the United States for business and is hardly ever home. We got talking about his jeep and how much I loved them and we were able to connect really well. He told us that he is the only non member in his whole family and once upon a time ago he wanted to join but got out of the habit of all the good things and started some bad habits instead and just didn't feel like it was his time. We talked to him about how the gospel has changed my life and got me out of bad habits and back into those better habits and he was really open and willing for us to come back again.
Fourth Tender Mercy of the Lord... General Conference... Need I say more? So many spiritually amazing talks. I loved President Nelson's.. We can have joy in any circumstance of life!
Fifth Tender Mercy of the Lord...We went to visit a less active member who has health issues and can't come to church and she just so happened to get a new roommate. The moment we walked in the door Victoria wanted to know allll about us. She had heard a lot of good things lately on the news about us and wanted to know what made us so different from everyone else. We had an awesome discussion and she told us how she just always feels super guilty from her past mistakes and her behavior and she wanted to change but she didn't know how. I shared with her Alma 36 and how Alma committed all these terrible sins and how when he turned to Christ and handed them over to him he could remember them no more and that even though his pain was so deep his joy was that much greater. I testified of the Atonement and how I know it mends the broken hearts and gives mercy to even the greatest of our sins. I have never had such a more powerful experience in my whole entire life then I did that night sitting on the couch talking to Victoria.
I know that the Atonement changes lives. I know that the gospel is changing lives. I know that because it has changed mine. I am so grateful to be serving my Savior everyday and giving a small portion back to Him what He has given to me and all of God's children.
I hope y'all had the greatest week. I love President Monson. I love the Savior. I love my Tahitian. I love Louisiana. And I just so simply love my life 💜 Much love people!!
Love
