Wow this week was a good one. It was definitely exactly what I needed and my testimony has grown sooo much in just a week. I had two really amazing experiences that I wanted to share with y'all!!
Last week I told y'all a little about the Hage family and this week we had an AMAZING visit with them!! They are so prepared. About a year ago Carrie's parents both passed away two weeks apart from each other. She really struggled while she was there taking care of them and was telling us how she read the whole entire Book of Mormon to her mom before she died... Who are you and why aren't you a member?? Her testimony of the Book of Mormon is sooo strong and she literally gives Book of Mormon's out to people all the time. Without even asking her questions she just came out and told us that she is having her parents temple work done.. WHAT?!?! This family just gets it. They are different from any other family I have taught before and their testimonies are so strong and have the greatest desire to simply follow their Savior Jesus Christ. They know the Gospel is true, now we are just trying to help them act on their faith and put it into action!
Here I thought that was gonna be the high of my week... Well I thought wrong. Lil through back moment... Back when I was in Baton Rouge I had the amazing opportunity to be teaching a guy named Shane Richard, I am not sure if y'all remember him so if not I will do a little back up story! Shane married Leesa about two years ago and Leesa is a very strong member with a solid testimony. Shane didn't really care for the church for a really long time until he started inviting missionaries over because he felt bad for us that we weren't getting fed.. Pathetic, yes but hey this is worth the starvation now!! By the time I got transferred from Baton Rouge, Shane came to church EVERY Sunday, read from the Book of Mormon daily, received a calling, and paid his tithing.. AND STILL WASN'T A MEMBER!!! I got so so so close with the Richard family and have kept in contact with them ever since I left and in the last couple of months the Gospel has really started to shape and change Shane's life. His wife a couple of weeks ago texted me and asked me to keep Shane in my prayers because she could just tell that the thought of baptism was really pressing on his mind lately.
So the past couple of weeks I have been praying in every single personal prayer for Shane and for his heart to be softened. I felt really impressed to fast for Shane last week. If any of y'all know me there are two rules when it comes to making me happy 1. I need sleep and don't mess with those sacred hours and 2. Feed me and you will never hear from the beast. So fasting is superrr hard for me and I never really had a testimony in it I just kind of did it because I was told to. But this time I decided I really need to change my attitude because I truly had such a strong impression and desire to fast and pray for Shane to feel the Spirit in his life.
I hadn't heard much but continued to pray and just hoped for the best. Well this morning my whole life was made with one simple phone call. Shane and Leesa called me to let me know that Shane has decided to be baptized. I seriously could not hold back the tears. He had felt the Spirit in his life and knew that his decision to be baptized was the right thing and was what his Heavenly Father wanted him to do.
My testimony is strengthened and my heart is full of gratitude and love for not only the Richard's but for my Heavenly Father and to know that He heard and answered my prayers. This experience has changed me sooo much and I have never felt this kind of happiness before. I love being a missionary and being able to see the light of Christ work in people's lives and change them for the better. Shane is just one of those people that I know for a fact I was called to Louisiana for a reason.
I love y'all, miss y'all and will see you too soon it isn't even funny. Keep Shane in your thoughts and prayers!!
