Its been another awesome/crazy week here in Prairieville! We have continued to gut out houses and serve others and have a feeling it is going to be like this for awhile! But that is okay because thats what this church is all about right? Serving others:) its the best thing!
We had around 800 volunteers from Texas, Georgia, Florida, all over really come and join the Mormon Helping Hands group for this weekend and it was an AMAZING experience. We got over 100+ work orders completed and did some serious amazing work. It was seriously incredible to be apart of something that amazing. The chapel was seriously filled all the way to the stage, in the hallways, anywhere where they could fit. It truly was so amazing and I am so grateful for those people who sacrificed their times and their personal lives to help out these communities! We even had the Governor and Mayor in sacrament meeting so that was pretty neat too!
Something that has really touched me this week is the attitude that these people have toward this trial they are going through. I can't tell you how many people have lost everything but have sat there with smiles on their faces surrounded by those they love and couldn't be more grateful. It reminded me a lot of the scripture in 3 Nephi 13:21... "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." it has made me realize and understand what my treasures are in life and what really matters most to me. I know that as long as I have those I love with me that nothing else matters in the end and I know thats the way that God would have it be.
