Louisiana Lovin'

This week was kind of a crazy week and definitely something I will never forget!
Tuesday morning we got a text saying that we were on lock down due to severe rain storms which I guess is pretty usual around here! It was kind of a really boring day minus the buckets and buckets of rain that were coming down and it just kind of gradually became worse! President Hansen called and when that happens either someone has died or you are in trouble.. There is no in between:) He called to tell us/ warn us a tornado would be hitting us in about thirty minutes and to stay in the smallest room in the house! So for about an hour Sister Belnap and I pulled a Harry Potter and stayed in our bathroom underneath the stairs which is smaller then small!! My poor companion.. She was totally calm but me on the other hand not so much! She probably thinks I belong in the nut house after that.. Tornado storms are not good for me haha:) I am sure I aged about ten years because of the amount of anxiety it brought me! The tornado hit not too far from us and literally ripped an LDS church apart. The bishops office literally was just stripped from the building. Kinda crazy but just shows how aware our Heavenly Father is of his missionaries. But I know that our Heavenly Father watches out and protects all his missionaries, which is a huge blessing in itself!
You know how I like to worry!  Since Sister Belnap has been here they have been in three other lock downs ( 3 months out) so if you do the math there... That's like 18 lock downs and each time I age about 10 years due to anxiety so looks like I won't be making it home:)  Haha!  Okay maybe I'm being a tad bit dramatic but it really is pretty scary not gonna lie!  I guess Heavenly Father is prepping me for hurricane season?
Besides the weather, Covington has been nothing but good to me!  We actually committed three girls to baptism last night!  YAYY!  They are three black girls that are SO hilarious!  Briana, 19, Janala, 17 and Olivia, 16!  They honestly had no clue who Jesus was and just have kind of a rough life.  I like them a lot so I hope they go through with baptism and don't chicken out!
They have had another investigator commit to baptism before I got here.  Her name is Emily and she is seriously my favorite!  She just turned 18 but her mom has a bad taste for Mormons and she really wants their support so she has been hesitant but she was with us all during p-day and I think we helped her a lot with it so we are hoping about mid March.  She has a lot of faith and just is so sweet, she really deserves all the gospel has to offer her.  That's something I have picked up quickly out here.  I wish people could see themselves through our eyes.  So many people out here are so deserving of this gospel.
Service is still by far one of my favorite things as a missionary and we were able to go and see our cute friends at the Windsor again this week! It was their happy hour (why they allow old people drink I will never quite understand) and their talent show and it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen! Old people a little bit tipsy has to be one of the greatest things ever seen! There talent show was so cute and was full of singing and dancing so I had a blast obviously!  Even if they are not obeying the word of wisdom I still love them:)
This week we had a bunch of appointments set up and we were super excited and were really determined to progress with these investigators! Come Thursday every single on of them bailed last minute.. It was super frustrating and really discouraging for us because we were so excited! Later that evening we had an interview with President Hansen and he really stressed to us how important tracting is. Tracting is probably the thing I struggle with most and is seriously comical at how bad and how awkward I am. We laugh about it a lot because I am kind of just a spaz but hey thats okay:) spaz on bike and on land is the joke we have!
Obedience is a big thing we focus on in our companionship so what did we do? We decided to go tracting Saturday like President Hansen advised us! Of course we have to bike across the busiest area ever and practically tried to kill ourselves.. Not the greatest idea we ever had but is always a good laugh for us all:) we tracted the most amazing houses and gorgeous area but no one would stop to listen to us and got chased by a dog or two while we were at it! We were just so discouraged and just were really down!
Sunday rolled around and the blessings just kind of started to pour! We were able to get FOUR new investigators just in one day! Which is crazy and so not usual! Although our tracting wasn't what you call a huge success, our obedience was! No matter what kind of missionary work we are doing it is always a success in some way whether it is the way we wanted it or expected it! I know that being obedient and following the counsel of those around us will bring us more blessings then we can possibly imagine! OBEDIENCE BRINGS BLESSINGS!!
Us in the bathroom praying for our lives and saying our last goodbyes haha:)

Our front yard flooding in all the rain
And we survived!!

Second is my Windsor friends:) not tipsy yet...

And the other two is the amazing trees and stuff everywhere.. I'm telling you I live in the notebook:)

Surviving the crazy traffic on bikes!  Tracting in flower estates.   We live in Eden.
