I am alive and well and am loving Louisiana! I am in an area right now called Covington! It is so pretty and is my far the richest area in the state so I am pretty safe compared to the rest of the places! I have never seen such amazing and beautiful homes! They are so beautiful and I may never want to leave this place because of how gorgeous it seriously is! I am practically in the movie the Notebook so life is pretty good that way:) The people are SOOO amazing!! They are so deserving of the gospel and love Jesus a lot! And praise me daily for bringing souls to him hahaha its pretty hilarious actually! But I love them and all they have to offer!
My companion is Sister Belnap from Boise,Idaho! She has been out 12 weeks and is so hard working so its so good for me! She is super sweet and we get along well!
One of my favorite things about being a missionary here is everyday we do some kind of service! We volunteer at the thrift stores a lot but my favorite is a place called the Windsor:) it is a retired old folks home and they have my heart! I wish I could stay there all day long because they are so sweet and so fun! I usually am in charge of the arts and crafts so I really enjoy it and have made the cutest little friends! My companion is obsessed with cats so what do we do?.. We volunteer at a cat shelter for four hours twice a week.. Its fun but I am not a huge cat person! But its a great way to do missionary work and a lady that works there named Dawn talks about the gospel with us a lot! She is also a dictionary for anything cat and I have probably learned at least 101 plus things about cats so if you ever need to know anything I am your girl:)
There are a lot of inactive members here and when I say a lot I mean we are currently working on about just this last week! It's kinda crazy but they all were baptized at eight and never were raised or brought back to church so they know no better! We have to start all the way over with them but it is really cool because you can see in their eyes they know the gospel is true! I love it! It strengthens me each time we see one of them!
The food... Heaven help me because I cannot ever eat this again without dying... So my first night in we went to less active members home and they are straight red neck it is so fun and they are so nice! But... they fed us... Alligator tail... Chicken liver... And chicken gizzards.. Let's just say I will never be the same after that meal! And this week they are feeding us squirrel soup.. I am really excited as you can see:)
Luckily we are able to have a car but sometimes we bike! And of course the day we chose to bike is during my first southern rain storm. I am not coordinated enough to ride a bike in good weather so just imagine me in the rain.. We were visiting an investigator in the West 30's ( the ghetto of all ghetto's) and it is pouring rain!! The only white girls for blocks, we were sopping wet, and my g's were showing for everyone to see because my dress was just gone! Mascara is dripping down my face and I am just a flat out hot mess! When we finally got back to the house I just started laughing so hard! It was a site to see for sure and I know everyone who saw us will never forget the white mormon missionaries:)
I have realized how amazing this gospel is! I have seen the gospel change so many people already but most of all I have seen it change myself. I never in a million years would bike in the rain looking the way I did, but the gospel is worth so much more then anyone can possibly imagine. The people of Louisiana are so deserving of the gospel and I am so excited to just be starting in this amazing work:)
You are all in my thoughts and prayers and I thank you all for what you have done for me! Have a great week:)
I want to live here. the most beautiful houses EVER

nowwwww introducing
SISTER STEVENSON!
She's from Deweyville, Utah and she is straight outta the MTC.
Man she has a really great attitude about being new though. That is something that definitely makes being new a lot easier.
Fun story that is one of my favorites ever about Sister Stevenson's very first day in Louisiana as a missionary:
February 17, 2016
Wednesday
Every Wednesday night a less active family, the Nolans, feeds the sisters at 5 and the elders at 6 since we can't eat at the same dinner appointment.
They love the missionaries and we love them! They are so cool! Very redneck and so good to us. They're hilarious.
So its Wednesday night and we finish tracting during the day and go to the Nolans for dinner.
Guess whats for dinner.
Guess.
Guess.
You'll never guess.
Its the perfect first day food for Louisiana.
Nolans Menu:
Gator Tail boiled in crab boil with potatoes and mushrooms
Fried Chicken Liver
Fried Gizzards
Fried mushrooms
mmmmmmmmmm! PERF first day food right!
I thought everything was reaally really good! Not even kidding. The Nolans are pro Southern cooks. Alligator tail cooked to perfect tenderness falling off the bone... mushrooms full of flavor. mmmm :) One of the best meals I had in a while.
Poor Sister Stevenson on the other hand..... :) Dang. Rough night for her haha She did great though! Very polite and ate everything!
Can you say culture shock though?
But I do love Sister Stevenson! She has a good attitude about being new, she's able to talk to everyone, she has jumped right in with teaching and we have a really good time with role playing different investigators and doing door approaches on each other. I've had a really good time with it. Kind of surprising her with what some people in the south say and do :) She's a great sport.
Also a great sport about meeting our billion investigators and friends and members of the ward! She's doing really well and she'll do fab in the mission.
I'm super blessed to be her mama.
